Heather Blackmon, DVM

Dr. Heather Blackmon is a dedicated and compassionate veterinarian who has built a career centered on clinical excellence and the deep bond between humans and their animal companions. With a firm belief that every pet deserves a life of comfort and health, Dr. Blackmon brings a wealth of knowledge and a gentle touch to every consultation, ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of veterinary care.

Throughout her career, Dr. Blackmon has developed a diverse range of professional interests that allow her to provide comprehensive care across all stages of a pet's life. She has a particular affinity for geriatric medicine, internal medicine, dermatology, and behavioral issues. She also is a very firm believer in preventative care, believing that a proactive approach is the fundamental foundation for a long, healthy life.

What truly sets Dr. Blackmon apart is her unwavering commitment to personalized medicine. She understands that no two patients are the same, and she rejects a "one-size-fits-all" mentality. Rather, she takes the time to get to know each animal and their owner, carefully tailoring treatment plans to the specific needs, lifestyle, and medical history of each pet. This patient-centric philosophy ensures the best possible clinical outcomes and fosters a strong bond of trust and communication with her clients.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Blackmon prioritizes balance and rejuvenation. Whether she is enjoying time with friends and family on the lake, gardening, reading, or enjoying quiet moments at home with her husband and pets, Dr. Blackmon is deeply grateful for the opportunities to find joy, peace, and satisfaction in both her personal and professional endeavors. She is also an avid Doberman Pinscher lover and has worked with Georgia Doberman Rescue with veterinary care and transports.

Dr. Blackmon is honored to serve as a partner in your pet's healthcare journey and looks forward to helping your furry family members lead long, happy, and healthy lives.

Our Reviews

  • I love AVAC! Dr Brennan always takes time to answer all my questions and does a thorough exam when I bring my pups in. I love how she sits down in the floor with them because they are always anxious. The vet techs are great and very knowledgeable. I feel like they really care about my fur babies and provide them with excellent care.

  • My family dog of 15 years passed away recently. Dr. Brennan treated us with so much kindness. She explained the process and gave us as much time as we needed to say goodbye. I’m very grateful for her compassion during such a hard time.

  • Hershey absolutely loves coming here and gets so excited when we pull up. He always comes home happy and healthy. A couple times, they have called me to let me know he didn’t eat while boarding or had a little diarrhea, but they always check with me before doing anything extra with him. They truly care about the pets in their care! Kudos to the entire staff and thank you for all you do!

  • My cat, who’s my entire world, wasn’t feeling great so I made an appointment same day with Altadena Clinic. They made sure my cat was well taken care, walked me through everything and even did a follow up check in. It’s client service like that, which builds loyalty and respect. Thank you especially to Leslie & Dr Gonzalez for treating my baby with kindness & care.
